A traditional hotel, in the heart of the old City , Gjirokaster
This house is built in the 1860's, a traditional house like almost every house in Gjirokaster. With three floors, where the first one was used for keeping horses, so it was used as a stable . Also , the first floor was used as a place to keep food and gathering the rain water from the roof. The second floor was used by the family for accommodation in the winter months, because its height was not more than 2.6 meters. Almost every room in the second floor was with a fireplace, because the house was patriarchal. The third floor was used by the family for accommodation in the summer months and its height was not more than 4 meters. All the rooms of this floor are decorated with details in wood , in ceilings, walls and in beds. This floor had also a balcony. Like every taditional house in Gjirokaster, this house was plastered only in the third floor , so the humidity from the first and second floor could not get to the third floor. The house, three years ago, was all destroyed, especially the roof , which was going to collapse sooner or later. After three long years of reconstruction , now this house , with the name " Hotel Muse'e" is now a place where we welcome people from all over the world that visit the city.
